About

Flying Gravity Circus is now offering an acrobatic program for pre-professional training! APPPT will focus on strength, flexibility, and acrobatics, creating strong foundations and learning new skills. This is a program for students who are committed to taking their skills in circus to the highest level. This is a great opportunity for students interested in performing with advanced circus troupes, higher level circus education, or those considering a circus career. This class is also great for students who have the goal of just being the best acrobats they can be! This program is designed to prepare students for any future opportunities while keeping an understanding that growing up is about discovering yourself and that many things will change through childhood and teenage years.

There are no skill prerequisites to join APPPT, what is more important is the motivation, focus, and enjoyment of working hard at acrobatic and strength skills. The class will focus on skills such as front tucks, back tucks, front handsprings, and back handsprings, as well as improving on push ups, leg lifts, splits, bridges, and handstand holds. While there are no auditions, each student will have a trial period of three weeks followed by a discussion with Jon to see if the class is a good fit. If a student is struggling with attendance or focus, Jon will discuss with them and their family to decide if this program is right for them at that time.

Students can combine this program with Pre-Troupe, Green Troupe, or it can be taken on it’s own. In some cases it can be combined with Blue Troupe, however students in Indigo Troupe will already be receiving a high level of acrobatic training and thus are not eligible for APPPT. While this program does not include performances, any student in APPPT is eligible for Patchwork Troupe or optional gigs. Students with a solid acrobatic foundation who are interested in more group acrobatics are encouraged to sign up for the Wednesday night acrobatics class. However this class does have the prerequisite of a very comfortable back tuck on a trampoline so not every APPPT may be eligible.

Classes are held Thursday afternoons from 3:30-6pm, with the possibility of some additional Sunday mornings which Jon will announce.
