Whether new to circus or more experienced, campers in this session will learn new skills and improve in old ones. The twin goals of Youth Camp are: to achieve basic competency or to deepen in circus skill proficiency; and to work collaboratively with coaches to create a culminating performance by Friday afternoon.  Coaches emphasize effort and positive mental attitude and progress is measured against one’s own abilities.

Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays begin with a comprehensive warm-up and stretching in preparation for a morning of skills rotations. Rotations include: acrobatics and tumbling; toss juggling (scarves, balls, rings, clubs); balance equipment (tightwire, rola bola, rolling globe, unicycles); and gyroscopic juggling (trick sticks, diabolos, poi). Afternoon activities include clowning, human pyramids, and strengthening. By Wednesday of each session campers select two skills that will be showcased in Friday’s performance, then they spend Thursday composing and polishing their acts. On Fridays, Youth Camp ends with a Show for families and friends, followed by the traditional SLCC popsicles. “SLCC WE CAN DO IT!”

Dates: Two 1-Week Sessions.

Space is limited to 24 campers per session.

Youth Camp meets Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Campers may be dropped off starting at 8:30 (but not earlier, please).

$335 per camper. (Limited, need-based financial aid is available. Click here to apply for financial aid.)
A $50 non-refundable deposit is due upon registering. Balance is due on or before July 1st.



Campers must bring their own hearty snacks and lunches.

Please – healthy foods only. No sodas, candy, or sugary treats (brownies, cupcakes etc.)

We regret that we can’t offer a refrigerator or microwave – plan accordingly.

Bring a bottle for water!  We supply refills as needed.


Clothing & belongings:

Campers should wear clothing that is easy to move in and will keep them cool.

Sneakers and socks are necessary for certain activities.

Gymnastic or soft-soled shoes should be brought if you have them.

Helmets for unicycling may be needed (see helmet waiver form.)

Clothing with offensive language or pictures

Electronic games or devices (cell phones may be brought by older campers)

What about COVID-19? Is camp still going ahead?

The FGC team has been in close discussion with our circus education colleagues around the country, as well as listening to advice from the YMCA, American Camping Association, the CDC, state and federal governments, and the pandemic task force of AYCO and ACE.


Given the many complexities and challenges of hosting a camp during the pandemic, we have decided we will not hold in-person Silver Lining Circus Camp this summer.
