This year's Advanced Camp Theme: CLOWN, CHARACTER, & MIME LAB, 2019!

Camp program director Jackie Davis will co-coach this session with Ellie Davis!

On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, coaches will lead campers in fun and wacky warm-ups, followed by character play, improvisation, story dance, work with props, and mime technique. Campers will also learn make-up application (white face and Auguste), animal balloon twisting, and beat-boxing! Campers will begin to discover their Inner Clown that is already inside of them, waiting to be discovered! They will learn to be at ease in their bodies, on the stage and in the ring.

Wednesday: Special Guest Day! ***Stay after camp for pizza dinner and a special evening presentation!

1)      Ted Lawrence, former clown from Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus (Clown College Class of ’86) will spend the day with us teaching traditional American slapstick, water-spitting, and pie-throwing! Ted will also share his action-packed “jackpot” stories from his days with the Greatest Show on Earth.

2)      Campers will stay after camp for extra activities and a pizza dinner (with campers’ allergies noted!)

3)      THEN – in the evening, Rob Mermin, founder of Circus Smirkus, will present his multi-media one-man show, “Circle of Sawdust: Circus Tales of Mud, Myth, Magic, Mirth, & Mayhem.”
